函館港と倉庫群 安政元年(1854年)4月、米国のペリー提督が5隻の艦船を率いてこの港に姿を現わし、箱館の住民を大いに驚かせたが、ペリー著「日本遠征記」に”世界の最良港の一つ”と記されているように、舟が出入りしやすく、安全な港として国際的に名を知られた港である。 |
HAKODATE'S PORT AND WAREHOUSES In 1854 an American Commander Perry saild in to this port with 5 ships. It surprised the people of Hakodate very much. As in Nippon Enseiki (Expedition in Japan) written by Perry Hakodate port was said to be one of the best ports in the world. It was known internationally to be a safe port for the ships to sail in and out. Hakodate port is not only the entry point of Hokkaido but also a historic one opened at the same time as Nagasaki and Yokohama. These were the first Japanese treading ports opened in 1859、 European and American culture also entered at this port at this time. In the end of the Edo perriod since Kahei Takadaya developed fishing grounds in Kunashiri and Etorofu Island、 this port has also been developed as a base of the northernsea fishery. The red brick Kanemori Warehouse were built around 1967. THE REMAlNS OF THE FIRST WEATHER STATION This is the place where Naritoyo Fukushi opened HakodateWeather station in 1872. It be came the first meteorological observations in Japan. Incidentally he received instruments from Blakiston to help him with his work. He was the second son of Toyoji Tsuzuki who built the first Western style ship. |
