函館運上所跡
欧米5か国との通商条約に基づき、安政6(1859)年、箱館は横浜、長崎とともに開港し国際貿易港となった。これにともない、税関の前身である運上所が設けられた。 |
THE HAKODATE UNJOSHO REMAINS (HAKODATE CUSTOMS REMAlNS) In 1859 under the treaty of commerce with 5 nations、 Hakodate became one of the first ports to be opened to foreign trade along with Yokohama and Nagasaki. At that time Hakodate Unjosho (Customhouse) was built. The year after the port's opening 64 foreign ships entered the port -- 30 merchant ships、 21 whaling ships and 13 warships. There were few imports、 a quarter of the exports was kelp for China、 and other high ranking exports were marine products such as iriko (dried sea cucumber)、 surume (dried squid)、 hoshi-awabi (dried abalone) and the like. In 1872 Unjosho was redesignated as Hakodate Customs. The Hakodate Customhouse Building constructed in 1911 was a wooden Renaissance architecture、 but it was demolished in 1972. In 1968 they completed the Joint Government Port Building located in the central quay in Kaigancho、 and Hakodate Customs was moved there. |
